We have finally completed the injection molds for our custom stackable component trays! After months of toil, we will have our first sample trays cranked out next week!
I cannot over-emphasize how ELATED I am to see this step of our production journey come to a successful close.
I know what you're thinking... You're thinking to yourself,"How hard can it be to find plastic stackable trays?" That what I thought when I started the journey toward making our Inventor's Lab almost a year ago. My oh my how naive I was! But before I get into that fascinating story, lemme show you what our mold looks like and what the trays will look like.
By next week, we will have over 200 sample trays produced and be well positioned to produce thousands a low cost.
I originally pursued a thermaform approach to making the trays. Ultimately, this idea was scrapped when it became clear just how many moving parts we'd have to perfect to get the quality we wanted.
Big Kudos to Larry Bauerle of zenClaire for the engineering on this baby. His web site is www.zenclaire.com for anyone interested in making injection molds of their own, I can't recommend him highly enough.
Once again, thanks for the encouragement and support of my friends, family, and customers who keep me inspired to never give up.
Comments will be approved before showing up.
The first drawing for our STE[A]M Dream Giveaway contest that lets our fans donate invention kits to their favorite school, makerspace, or library was last week. You'll never guess who they gave their kit to!
